The highest quality pencil Castell® Color has a thick lead for writing, marking and drawing. The barrel is coated with green water-based paint and its lead is break-resistant due to a special bonding process.

Virtually all the pencils produced in the main factory in Stein are coated with an environmentally-friendly water-based paint. This is even used for the raised dots on the Grip pencils.
